Juicing My Belly Up
There’s nothing as seductive as a happy, self-confident, heart centered, and healthy woman. Work on these areas and the world is yours. I have always tried to do my best to stay healthy. Growing up in a farm, my only options were the fresh crops from the land. Today, I am grateful for my wild and natural upbringing. Yes, I’ve had my falls over the years, after everything became artificially flavored and imported from faraway places but my roots kept me intact and my search for the natural home grown has never stopped. My only pitfall has been veggies and how to incorporate them to my diet. That is solved since I started juicing.
Juicing has become a popular trend lately but has been around forever. As usual all I had to do was to remember what I had been taught in the past and voila! Although eating whole fruits and vegetables is the best way to go, juicing is an excellent option for those like me having a hard time eating raw vegetables. Since I began my juicing regime, I feel more energy, I’ve found myself sleeping better, and my skin has a special glow and softness. I have also been able to maintain a healthy weight.
If you haven’t tried it this is your chance. I have a couple of favorite mixes that I drink first thing in the morning and I am sharing with you. If you need to add some sweet, I recommend using Stevia or organic brown sugar.
Morning Kick Out
Kale
Spinach
Carrots
Pineapple
Coconut Oil
Sweet and Sassy
Strawberries
Blueberries
Carrots
Celery
Turmeric (1/3 teaspoon)

10 Ways in 10 Days to Rise Yourself Up
Over the years I’ve read lots of how to, do it yourself, motivational articles; all good and well intention. Stubborn as I am, I don’t believe in that I can’t try and test on my own. We all want to feel better and energize. We all crave to begin each day at our best. Truth is some days are sunny while others are filled with pouring rain. What I am sharing with you are very simple, self-proven actions that have worked for me mostly all the time, regardless of the circumstances. Start small. Try it yourself and commit yourself to make the best out of each dayJ
1. Find something beautiful and appreciate it. Yes, as simple as that. Beauty is all around us is we find the time to find it.
2. Write it down. List all the things you are grateful for. If you are here reading this, that’s the best reasons to say thanks.
3. Go within. Life could turn chaotic at times. No matter how busy you are find time to be with yourself; unplug and pamper from the inside out.
4. Reach out. Do something for someone else even if it is a smile or a word of encouragement. You never know the difference you could be making in that person’s life.
5. Stop the whining and blaming. Take responsibility and find joy in the unexpected.
6. Get moving. Walk, run, dance; do something to find your smiley frequency.
7. Take your power back. Saying no is healthy. Say yes only when you really feel it. Use your innate inner wisdom to make the choices that speak to you. Speak nice to yourself.
8. Let go. Surrender. Breathe. Take your time and listen to your gut feeling.
9. Is there something holding you back from what you really want to do? Face it! Challenge it! Sometimes the only rock in your way is you.
10. Connect. Cultivate close and personal healthy relationships. Find support in likeminded people. Share and listen to their personal stories. Nourish your spirit by connecting with others.
Every day you are given a chance to start fresh. You could be your best friend or worst enemy. Which one would you choose?
I have exciting news. My new book Called to Ribbon Dance: A Short Story of Hope is out and now available here: https://www.createspace.com/4350319. Be the first one to get your copy and follow the trail of the call.
Don't judge each day by the harvest you reap but by the seeds that you plant.
In and Out: Breathing and Releasing
There’s no doubt life comes charged with many unexpected events. How do we deal with them? How do we gain control when we have none? I used to be a control freak; nothing less but my way. Needless to say, stress was high on my list. I consoled myself thinking that stress was the engine I needed to keep me going; totally wrong. That belief would only create more difficulties to me and the people within my circle; personal and professional. And then one day, I life hit me in the face to teach me one of the most valuable lessons ever; trying to be in control of life is like trying to swim against the high tide during a storm. You end up exhausted, frustrated, and yes, inevitably out of control. Yes, it was a long and hard process but here I am, in much better control of myself after learning that by releasing and surrendering to what is everything falls into place and there’s no need of wanting to hold the bull by the horns at all times. I learned that… 1. Often times what we see as an obstacle is just the wise way to makes us aware we are taking the wrong path. 2. Wanting to control everything in our lives is going against everything that has been unfolded for our best. We are the main obstacles for what could and should be a smooth sailing. 3. Breathing, as simple as it sounds, is one of the best ways to calm down and let go. It transforms the way we see things. 4. Laughing at yourself is the best medicine, sort of “when you can’t beat it, laugh at it” strategy. It is powerful! I finally breathe and released more; cherished and appreciated the little things. And, in the middle of the chaos was able to let go and bring on what was truly important. Today, just breathe! |

Is Business Your Soul Purpose?
Hi loves,
Are you like me? I mean, do you believe, deep in your heart, that you can have a soul-full life, a success-full biz, and do a lot of good for the world in the process?
I absolutely believe that. And good news: I found someone who’s showing us exactly how to make it happen.
My friend Leonie Dawson has created something that’s changing the lives and businesses of SO many women around the world in a way that’s never been seen before.
If you don’t know Leonie, let me give you a few quick deets about her:
She’s a woman who really walks her talk. She’s managed to create a half million dollar a year company, working a few hours a day, spending loads of time playing with her family + making art + living a really full life. And, like me, she believes in making this world an amazing place by giving generously to causes she believes in.
I really resonate with Leonie, and I think you will too. Plus, she knows her stuff when it comes to business!
Leonie created the Amazing Biz and Life Academy, which gives you over $3800 (!!!!) of business and marketing programs to create a powerful and profitable business, zen-your-mind meditations, creativity, spirituality, home and health e-courses to help you live your best life yet. It is a complete toolkit for transforming whatever part of your biz or life you want to focus on.
http://leoniedawson.com/affiliate-redirect/?p=allia29&w=abla
I know you’re probably thinking that you don’t have time for more information, but here’s the great thing: you get a full year of membership at the Academy for a really low price, so you can pop in and check out the materials whenever you want to, on your own schedule. So whether you want to spend a couple of hours working on your biz in the middle of the day, or you want to grab just five minutes of time to listen to a meditation while you hold your snoozing babe in your arms, the Academy accommodates your life and schedule.
http://leoniedawson.com/affiliate-redirect/?p=allia29&w=abla
There’s a ton of info about the Academy and Leonie available at the link above. I hope you’ll check it out. And if you’re in the mood to be totally inspired + motivated, definitely check out the “Success Stories” tab on that page. The things the Academy members are accomplishing! Reading about other peoples’ successes always lights me up. I bet you’ll feel the same way when you read them.
Here’s the link again… stop by and take a look! Feel free to share with other lovely souls like you.

Cheers,
Me
P.S. Investing in education and learning from someone who’s done what you want to do is the best way to make your dreams come true. Leonie is one of those women who can really teach you how to make it happen, in a completely heart-centered, open-book, “let’s change the world for real” kind of way.

Living in the Aloha Spirit
I have written before about the Huna; an ancient Hawaiian practice that focuses on practical living and harmony with the three levels of consciousness or selves. We all have heard the word aloha and for many it is translated as hello, goodbye, or love but in its deeper meaning it refers to the joyful (oha) sharing (alo) of life energy (ha) in the present moment (alo). It is said that as this energy is shared we become attunes to the Universal Power; manna for the Hawaiians. According to Huna teachings, the loving and intentional use of this power is the secret for attaining health, happiness, prosperity, and success. What is the secret?
Have you ever noticed how when you maintain a positive attitude, when instead of complaining or blaming you accept your blessings and bless forward, everything in your life seems to run smoothly? Yes that is the simple secret that we miss so often; bless everyone and everything that represents what you want, a simple as that.
Want to enhance your power to bless and be blessed? I am sharing with you an excerpt from the Little Pink Booklet of Aloha written by Dr. Serge Kahili King. He offers these techniques to improve your power to bless in four simple steps.
1. Become aware of your natural breathing (it might change on its own just because of your awareness, but that's okay).
2. Locate the crown of your head and your navel by awareness and/or touch.
3. Now, as you inhale put your attention on the crown of your head; and as you exhale put your attention on your navel. Keep breathing this way for as long as you like.
4. When you feel relaxed, centered, and/or energized, begin imagining that you are surrounded with an invisible cloud of light or an electro-magnetic field, and that your breathing increases the energy of this cloud or field.
5. As you bless, imagine that the object of your blessing is surrounded with some of the same energy that surrounds you.
I believe there is no time like the now to make small changes that would lead to bigger ones. We all need blessings in our life and the best way to receive them is by given them first. Aloha!

Lessons from Punjab
For the last few days India has been on my mind again. I’ve been mentally reviewing my days in this country; reliving scenes and encounters with unknown people. Sometimes it is not until we have experienced something and some time has passed when we finally realized the lessons learned at that point. If I am to summarize my learning experience in that beautiful and sacred country I would have to use six simple words; excitement, acceptance, awareness, compassion, gratefulness, and silence.
Everything in India is a journey on excitement when seeing through the eyes of adventure. The crowds, street markets, the excessive noise of cars honking the horns, even the foggy air in the city is a call to immerse in life as it is. Far from the western commodities, simplicity teaches the visitor to accept everything there is because what is is life in its simplest way. India has the magic of making us aware of where we are, what we are doing, and how it is enjoyed. It settles people in the present, making only that moment matter. The light in the eyes of its people and their smiles regardless of their living conditions opens the heart to an unknown feeling of compassion. Regardless of the situation the urge is to help, to stay, to make a contribution of love. This feeling teaches that only through gratefulness life is fulfilled and only by giving, if only a smile, we are able to receive. Silence, however, was the most difficult lesson. What do you do when there’s no TV, no radio, limited phone access, and the internet service is slow or inexistent; when electricity fails every fifteen minutes cutting you off from the rest of the world? You learn to speak to your inner self, to walk in silence and listen to its messages, to appreciate time alone and the unadulterated flow of life, to create the unimaginable through it; you learn to be.
I know one day I’ll be back and I wonder if it would be the same. Things change so much in such a short period of time. In the meantime, I am glad I took that leap of faith. Augustine Di Hippo once said that the world is a book and those who do not travel read only one page. India is one of those magical places that we can’t miss in our lifetime. I assure you there will be many pages for you to read in that book and many lessons that will change the way you see and experience life.

Pals from Paws: Relationship Lessons from my Dog
It has been said that dogs are the best friend of men and the best teachers also. My little dachshund, Lola, has given me some of the best lessons on how to see my relationship with a new pair of eyes. You see, when I was writing my book, I did some research among friends and strangers. The question was simple, what do you expect of your relationship? Both, men and women would reply in the same way. They all hope for honest communication, commitment and understanding, a shoulder to lean in times of struggle, and shared values and dreams. However, when asked what they were willing to bring to the relationship, they would doubt about those same things they were asking for. I have caught myself in the same predicament. That 50/50 doesn’t work all the time and if it doesn’t relationships won’t work. That’s the simple truth. Here is where my Lola comes into play. My relationship with her has taught me some basics on how to rebuild my relationship keeping it safe and thriving. I call these PALS; patience, acceptance, loyalty, and silence.
1. Be patient: Understand that not every day is a good day and a healthy relationship would grow bigger and stronger when we develop the ability to just be there. Sometimes we must close our eyes, breath, and learn how to listen to the silent messages of the other person. There will always be a time to sit down and talk. By being patient with the moods and swings we give the gift of space which is so important for us as individuals.
2. Be loyal: Commitment is all about loyalty and loyalty is one of the pillars of love. Be faithful and dedicated to the wellbeing of each other. In the end, no one forced you into the relationship. It was your decision. Be respectful of your partner’s weaknesses. Become a backbone and give reassurance that through thick and thin you will be there to help and support.
3. Don’t speak if your opinion hasn’t been requested. As couples we tend to let our personal opinions take over believing that just because we are a couple we have the right to interfere in every aspect of our partner’s life. Sometimes all that is needed is a good pair of ears and a mouth shut. Sometimes all people need is our presence not our words.
4. Learn how to accept your partners as they are. I have heard many people complaining about how much their partners have changed. In many cases they haven’t but we were expecting them to; we were expecting that they would change into what we wanted to. . If there was something you didn’t like at the beginning but accepted it, don’t try to change it with time. For a relationship to be healthy, partners need to see their differences and accept those that are tolerable. Accept each other fully. Learn how to see the perfect within the imperfect.
The Unplugging Effect
It’s summer time and I am about to embark in a mini personal retreat meaning no media for a couple of days. Now the question is, would I be able to do it? Media has consumed us all. It has transformed our lives into media maniacs for the sake of keeping up with the world events. Do I really want to know what’s going on? What difference would it make if I step out for a few days into the not knowing? I think I’ll be fine plus I would enjoy a much needed time out to focus and concentrate on that last chapter of my new book, probably planning a summer trip, or simply putting my thoughts together for a fresh start; yes one more because I love fresh starts with every sunrise.
Making time for you has plenty of benefits. Healthy well-chosen solitude enables you to think about your life state of affairs and the relationships that nurture you. Additionally it is a self-made escape that conforms to your rules exclusively. You decide what to do, when, and where. So I am planning for morning writing sessions, walks with my dog, some exercise and meditation to keep my mind and body clear, and some spontaneous creative activities out of the box since it is always good to explore something new; something never tried before that reassure us that there are no limits for what we are capable of doing.
To me, self-retreats equals serendipity and they carry many benefits…
1. They help us connect with nature.
2. They do wonders when we want to unplug from the routine that sometimes kills our creative nature.
3. They give us some time to learn or remember how important it is to pamper and nurture body, mind, and spirit.
4. Since there are no routines, every moment is fully appreciated.
5. Gives us time to explore, think, plan, and give birth to new ideas
Have you been through a lot lately and yearn to lighten up? Have you lost the thread of your life? Do you simply need some soulful focus me time? This is your time. What kind of self-retreat would you do right now? Drop everything and let’s do it because like Aristotle once said, “knowing yourself is the beginning of all wisdom.”

“In times of struggle, do some furious dancing.”
Dancing; the sacred art of movement, poetry for your feet, and the best medicine to uplift your spirit. There’s something magical about it making us forget about our problems, casting away sadness, and filling us up with renewed vitality. It keeps us forever young not counting all the health benefits it provides keeping our bones strong, increasing circulation burning more calories, cleaning the blood, improving memory, and raising our mood; the best known therapy and natural booster.
I’ve been known for my love for this art. Being from the Caribbean islands, the sound of a drum is my cue to jump into never ending furious swirls. Barriers are erased and all the sounds of the world blend into one. This is what it would look and feel like…
Join me in sharing your furious dancing!

To an Endless Summer
Let’s try this again. It is that time of the year when I am far from my students, lesson planning, meetings, and after school activities. Yes, summer vacation is here and I love it. For almost three months I enjoy a different kind of freedom when I can wake up early or late knowing that I’ll be in complete charge of my day; when I can perform my daily rituals without a clock ticking. How my summer does looks like?
Early rising with a grateful heart for everything good that is already on my way is followed by a glass of lemon water before my beloved coffee, a good workout to wake up my cells, and a sweet talk with my herbs and vegetables while giving them some love and fresh water. The warmth of summer days fill me with the words and feelings I can later put into my writing. Summer is also the time when I can display my best cooking skills. I am in a never ending affair with the kitchen. What a glorious time this is! All my adventures and ventures start during this season; no planning needed. I can’t wait to start sharing the next months with you. Cheers to an endless summer!

Ancient Wisdom for Modern Times
Spirituality not religion has been the base of my faith. Ancient people left for us a myriad of life proven lessons we have failed to integrate in our life. Instead, we have complicated our daily living missing basic and simple concepts with the power of turning around chaos into heaven. The Hawaiian Huna people belong to this group of wise men and women who emphasized a practical and harmonious life. From them we learn key principles to live a life of happiness, fulfillment, and success, whatever your personal meaning of it is.
What I am sharing with you is an adaptation of their seven principles as daily affirmations to turn any day into a positive path.
1. I am aware that the world is what I think it is and I have the power to succeed in any of my endeavors.
2. I am free because there are no limits except the ones I create.
3. I am focused because my energy flows where my attention goes.
4. I am here, present in the now because it is in the now where my power resides.
5. I am happy because self-love and love for humanity is my main source of power.
6. I am confident because my inner power moves me through everything I do.
7. I am positive because I am effective in all I do and always expect the best.
There will always be rainy days but if we follow these simple concepts we will be shining our light where shadows have no room to settle. Mending Sisterhood
And there was a time, not so long ago, when all the women used to get along, sharing their gifts, their crafts, their food, smiles, and tears. I know because I was lucky enough to meet those women and shared some of their accomplishments together. Like I said, there was a time. As I grew up, I witnessed the dismantling of the tribe. Women started to turn against each other, paying attention to who had the better body, the best cloth, the biggest account, higher education, or the best boyfriend/husband in line. By looking at our differences, we forgot our similarities, the stories we have always shared. And then we grew apart and sisterhood was broken.
There is strength in union. We have all heard it. Through history, every time we have come together, we have improved our human being condition and that of others. Mending self-made cracks is the road to make drastic changes creating the world we need, want, and deserve. The ties that bind us are strong and we need to tie them up stronger now more than ever.
1. Stop looking for differences.
2. Acknowledge our common stories.
3. Look for those moments when we have changed the course of history.
4. Honor the feminine in you.
5. Find time to be with girlfriends and celebrate your talents.
6. Find time to meet new girlfriends.
7. Teach your daughters to be proud and to love themselves the way they are.
8. Carry a big “no drama here” sign.
9. Serve as an example of womanhood to younger generations.
Every one of us has a mission to accomplish. Our unique gifts were given to us to fulfill that mission. There is no time for hatred, envy, or jealousy. We are sisters with a purpose; to create, to change, to cheer each other up, to have our backs and make it happen as one.
“Help one another, is part of the religion of sisterhood.”
Louisa May Alcott

Let’s face it! Not every day is a good day but, no matter what we must keep going and find some inspiration within ourselves. Sometimes there’s no choice. Some other times, we can make it our choice to give our best and show up to the world. For all those “not so good” days, here I share with you some daily reminders.
1. You are who you are. Live each day from your I AM presence and be proud of it.
2. Your life, your responsibility. No blames and no games. You are the only owner of your gifts and talents. Craft them your way and hold yourself accountable for how you use them.
3. Trust and transform. Always speak your truth and stand up for it.
4. Be happy with who you are and what you have. Know that there’s always a way to change and improve if so you decide but find joy in your now.
5. Honor and express your emotions. Don’t hold your feelings toward yourself or others. If you don’t let it out, chances are people won’t figure it out either.
6. Find compassion, resilience, love, and understanding but know that you are your universe from the point where you stand. Your outer world won’t work if you don’t.

Top Five for Your Health
I am well-known for my love for herbs. They are everywhere in my porch. They are my babies, not only because how nice they look, but for their medicinal power and contribution to a healthy mind, body, and spirit. Spring and summer are the seasons when I can fully enjoy them in their entire splendor.
As women we go through different stages. We have so many roles to play that sometimes we forget about taking care of our health. Herbs are a great and simple way to maintain our bodies healthy. Herb’s infusions or teas are easy to make and good to the taste and they could be consumed hot, cold, or at room temperature. Over the years I have tried many different herbs but today I am sharing those which in my opinion are the top to keep us healthy.
1. Black cohosh: the best for hot flashes and night sweats
2. Evening Primrose: Anti-aging, good for severe headaches, and heart problems
3. Red Clover: Prevent osteoporosis, reduces the possibility of blood clogs, and arterial plaques
4. Turmeric: Anti-inflammatory, detoxifier , stomach disorders, cardiovascular disease, prevention of cancer, arthritis , and multiple sclerosis
5. Oat straw: Excellent to sooth the brain and nervous system while at the same time increasing sexual desire and performance.
There you have my top 5. If you want to know more and learn some tips on how to use these in teas, infusions, or tinctures I fully recommend Susan Weed’s site: http://www.youtube.com/user/wisewomantradition , where she takes you through the process step by step.

Pump it Up!
What a great day to be alive and here! I woke up this morning with the sun knocking on my eyes. Wake up! Open the window, trees dancing, and showing their flowering branches all over! Like saying, you can flower like me as well. Nice feeling that prompted me to think about the time we waste sometimes in vain subjects and not truly to be worried issues. Life is good! So today, let’s tap into the beauty of what we have. Let’s…
1. Give more with a cheerful smile.
2. Find something that we love, anything and keep it close to our heart.
3. Go out! Call or visit your loved ones. Say I love you and really mean it.
4. Look people in the eye where you can see yourself reflected.
5. Cast away what holds you back. Love deeply, passionately, and fiercely.
6. Make fun and have fun with yourself. Be silly. Be happy for no reason.
7. Remember the three R’s for a good life: Respect yourself; Respect others, and take Responsibility for your actions.
“Be soft. Do not let the world make you hard. Do not let pain make you hate. Do not let the bitterness steal your sweetness. Take pride that even though the rest of the world may disagree, you still believe it to be a beautiful place.” ~Kurt Vonnegut~
